Welcome to Structural Geology!!

What is GEOL 313?

Welcome to the webpage for GEOL 313 (Structural Geology) at The College of Wooster. Simply, GEOL 313 is one of my favorite courses to teach.  Designed primarily as a junior- or senior-level course in the geology major or minor, the course ties together many different subdisciplines of geology with its own unique twist: much of what we discuss in class has undergone years of stress and is therefore deformed!!  Geologists excited about structure and tectonics attempt to reconstruct the geologic history of a region, including the deformation and resultant shape change imposed on items as small as a grain of sand to as large as a mountain belt.

GEOL 313 provides us with an amazing opportunity to discuss some of the most breathtaking mountain belts in the world…the Andes, the Rockies, the Alps, the Himalayas, the Southern Alps, and the Transantarctic Mountains, just to name a few.
